LOGIC GAMES Drop in the spirit of geeks, lovers of board games, comics, and classic motifs of punk merch. It all started with the zine Wolves & Demons, a collection of puzzles that we created as a team. From there we took the subjects and plots for the prints, and the characters are the participants of two imaginary rival camps - demons and wolves. 2024 PURGATORY Liminal space refers to a transitional or in-between space, often described as a threshold or a crossing point between two different states or experiences. When you are no longer "here", but not yet "there". This concept is associated with a feeling of uncertainty about the future and your role in it, difficulties with self-identification and the search for your place.
The feeling that you are stuck in limbo from which you can’t find a way out is something that we have to live with now. Hence the name of the drop – Purgatory – a fictional place where we are all waiting for some kind of distribution and "further instructions" from the universe. However, in many religions, purgatory is not always a place, but a process to which terrestrial and temporal properties do not apply. A process that should be looked at not in terms of punishment or debt repayment, but in terms of spiritual growth. Any transitional period is a challenge, but it can be transformative and valuable. We have to forget about what just recently seemed possible, but still there will be something else. 2023 INTERNAL STRUGGLE The theme of inner struggle and emotional conflict is at the heart of the INTERNAL STRUGGLE collection, a collaboration with TYPECRIPS, our in-house designer. For three years now, Danil has been drawing almost everything for Volchok, from prints to posters, we owe him the tribals and cyber future digital ornaments on our clothes, but this time the designs were born from a series of his works, accumulated as a result of many hours of escapism through freehand drawing.
In troubled times, being in melancholic mood for a long time, we close from the outside world in an attempt to either find something in ourselves that will allow us to adapt to a new reality, or simply escape from it. 2022 ARALEZ The name is a reference to the Armenian mythology: the Aralez are the spirits that were carried from the sky to resurrect the fighters who fell in battles, licking their wounds. In February 2022, part of the VOLCHOK team relocated to Armenia, the collection is inspired by the impressions of this country and interaction with local culture. 2022 RENAISSANCE Under the influence of striving for the future, without looking back, we have been building digital castles and concrete vaults for half a century. But in the daily news feed the characters of ancient myths and portraits of forgotten heroes began to appear, roses of fanciful ornaments sprout and lost artifacts emerge like ghosts of the past unknown to us. As we reinvent the present, we remembered a Renascence lesson about the power to look back for truth and inspiration. In our reality, there is no separation between trends and types of art: content on the web exists in a general paradigm of thinking, equally embedding a unique element from each era into one syncretic chain. The hero of the RENASCENCE collection is a romantic image of a modern knight who lives in a hybrid assembly of their multi-exposition, multicultural reality. There is no longer one national cultural field in the eclecticism of the world compiled for oneself — there is a global one; Slavic mythology adjacent to anime massacres, news reports — with digital poetry, viral photos — with scans of medieval engravings. 2021 BEYOND THE WALL The time of closed borders and total isolation from the outside world prompted us to look around and pay attention to all that unusual and unexplored that is happening right in front of us and from which we from time to time fenced off with a blank wall of rejection and misunderstanding. Under the facade of the progressive age — a time when personal views still cannot be freely expressed, so the more important it is for us to be attentive to each other. We believe that an orientation towards pluralism and tolerance is the only way for the development of the whole society and each individual. We dedicated the BEYOND THE WALL collection to this. 2021 TIRAN The name of the collection can be interpreted in different ways. We made it emphatically simple and rude — this could be the name of a musical group that touches on political and social themes in its compositions. Exploring the cultural characteristics of black metal, along the way we ironic over the atmosphere of inaccessibility that surrounds the black metal community, tremulous attitude of its followers to subcultural attributes and traditions and their constant attacks on so-called "posers", who don't deserve to be called true metalheads — most of the time for unexplained reasons. We find it kind of funny that on this stage fingers are often being pointed at certain artists for not being "true" enough. However, this genre is evolving and getting popular, many bands are striving to use a wider musical palette, lines are being blurred and re-drawn and we believe that any classifications in music today are almost irrelevant and inconsequential. 2020 SECT In unconditional acceptance of an ideology, often invented by one person, in subjection to a set of strict rules, participating in rituals, sometimes having a radical or even criminal character, the masses of people find a feeling of mutual assistance and ownership. The mass distribution of cults, their ideas and practices is impressive. Just like subcultures with their their limited circle of followers, with their own values ​​and methods relate to global culture — new religious associations (sects) are in opposition to the main culture-forming religion of a country or region. At the same time, global culture often draw upon new elements that have the potential for wide distribution in subcultures striving to separate itself, eventually making them widespread. The emergence of non-traditional religious, as well as cultural movements is often a reaction to the crisis of the foundations of modern civilization. Belonging to a sect, as well as belonging to a subculture, is participation in the circle of the chosen ones, enthusiasts who are confident that they know how an ideal society should be arranged, or who are ready to fully trust the leader in this matter. Followers of non-traditional movements don’t wait for the formation of the new world, but live in it, creating a society in society. In this regard, their courage can be envied. 2020 PREDATORY THINGS OF THE CENTURY The name of the collection refers to the eponymous book of the Strugatsky brothers — a novel exposing philistinism and bourgeois values. Written in 1964, it predicted many features of modern society, for example, raves, during which people who were fed up with comfort in the novel were looking for thrills. Today there’re plenty of «predatory things» in big cities, but now we finally have the opportunity to turn something new into our favor. The main theme of the collection is the right of a metropolis resident to be alone. In the modern city the very concept of the social role played by a person is blurred, which means that there’s more freedom for self-expression and the opportunity to be an individual. We are free to control our social circle, based solely on personal interests, and even being online 24/7, we can reduce the number of people with whom we enter into a conversation to a minimum. We no longer feel embarrassed by the silence in the elevator and don’t feel the need to maintain friendly relations with our neighbors. Indifferent to each other, we feel lonely among many of the same ones, but this shouldn’t be considered as a negative feature of urban life, because in such conditions the identity of each can be revealed. Taking this idea as the basis of the collection, we raise the question of what should be the things for a city dweller — an individual using his «right for the city». The presentation took place in a two-storied unfinished penthouse. Instead of the traditional fashion show, the models took part in an hour performance, while guests watched them from above through a hole in the floor and through the screens with the live stream. 2019 UNITY The collection was created in collaboration with the artists of the EUTHANASIA SPORT underground tattoo community. The main motives of the collection are unity, synergy and interaction between different people, cultural processes and types of art in order to create a new improved future. This idea is more relevant than ever because of the political situation that has developed between Russia and Ukraine in recent years. We believe that war is the tumor of our planet but having united we will usher in a new era — an era of freedom, friendship and peace — a state of society that we should all strive for. 2019 Crash test CRASH TEST means intentional creation of an accident to detect the damage level which can be obtained by its participators. In other words people expose cars with hard testing to reveal its safety. By invention and upgrading new technologies and tests. Alike this we’re constantly searching for the ways to test our fortitude. Destruction is youth and will to live. Only by destroying one can create a space for something new. 2018 REPLICA The REPLICA collection was made in collaboration with three artists: Nicholas Koshkosh, Yaroslav Putyata and Dima Melancholiac. Each of the artists chose the clothes he likes and we made them of canvas so they could paint the pieces by hand. The canvas in the form of a garment. The garment acting as a canvas. Afterwards we adapted the results of their work for a clothing release. The presentation took the format of an exhibition of contemporary art. The clothes were exhibited as art objects. The videos were running on big screens. Three videos that we made about the artists contain the process of making clothes and short interviews. Answering our question the heroes shared their thoughts about what is contemporary art now and what does it mean to be an artist. In fashion industry the term «replica» is usually understood as a method — to get inspired by high art of the past. We tried to erase a line between creating an object of fashion and an object of art. We tried to present the collection as a piece of art, as an event, as a way of depicting reality and the inner world of the artist through the use of artistic images. 2018 POSTHUMAN Capsule collection made in collaboration with Barcelona brand ANTIDOTO28 and Moscow artist Elena Mosyakina NXCSS. 2017 FINAL FANTASY The central theme of the collection was the creative potential of human mind, the power of imagination, capable of transforming reality. Information that once made sense turns into noise, indefinitely inducing a meaningless move to nowhere. The soul takes the part of an observer. Not involved in the ongoing madness, it is a ghost in the body, doomed to ruination together with all living things in this world. Salvation is in the inexhaustible flow of young forces. The main thing of a human is life, and life is the activity of the soul. Accumulated cultural and social contradictions can only be overcome by phantasy. Freedom of imagination is the only weapon against the stagnant old world. Freedom not to destroy, but create new. With common effort changing reality to the better. 2017 SMERTELNAYA BITVA The SS 2017 collection SMERTELNAYA BITVA was inspired by 90s, digital culture, video game Mortal Kombat and thrillers from VHS-tapes. 2017 FOREST Escape from the information flow, hide somewhere where there is no connection and WI-FI, where nobody cares to spit on your rating in social media - there are only you and the forest. 2016 NO KINGS NO GODS The main theme of the collection was the equality between all the people. There can be no reason for confidence in one's own superiority over others - just like there is no reason to worship anyone. Anyone can only rely on his own strength, live only by his own ideals.
